Why PTM Downtown?
We built these packs because we kept seeing the same problem: people arriving in the Algarve wanting to surf, spending half their trip figuring out transport, where to rent gear, which beach to go to and whether they were beginner-friendly. So we fixed it. You step off the train at Portimão station. We pick you up. That morning, your instructor has already checked the forecast and chosen the beach with the right conditions for your level. You surf for 3 hours with equipment included. We bring you back. Breakfast was waiting before you left. The rest of the day? Yours.

Do I need to know how to surf
Not at all. Most of our guests have never stood on a board. Our partner instructors specialise in first-timers — by the end of your first lesson, you'll be up on the board.
Do I need previous surf experience?
No prior surf experience is required. Our surf lessons are adapted to your level, whether it’s your first time surfing or you already have experience.
What is included in the surf lessons?
Each surf lesson lasts approximately 3 hours and includes professional instruction, transport to the beach, and full surf equipment.
Where is the accommodation located?
The accommodation is located in Portimão, close to restaurants, shops, and public transport.
What if the waves are flat?
Your instructor monitors conditions daily and chooses the best beach along the Algarve coast. If conditions aren't right, we reschedule — never skip.
Are meals included?
Breakfast or a box to-go is included in all packages.
Lunch and dinner are available as optional extras (prices on request).
Can I add extra surf lessons?
Yes. Extra surf lessons can be added, subject to availability and additional cost
Is the accommodation decent?
We're a boutique hotel and hostel in the heart of Portimão — not a basic surf camp. Choose between private rooms in the suites or dorm beds in the hostel. Both have free breakfast included.
Can I come alone?
Yes — and you should. Solo travellers make up more than half of our guests. The PTM Downtown community has a way of turning strangers into dinner plans by the first evening.
